The final autopsy report on the death of Amy Winehouse was issued and the result was death due to alcohol poisoning and no drugs were found in her system, a suspicion that many harboured due to her long history of drug abuse that was well documented. The level of her blood alcohol was 416 milligrams per 100 milliliters, which translates to a blood alcohol level of .4, the legal driving limit in the US is .08. Her alcohol level was 5 times higher than the legal driving limit for those of you who are math challenged.

In her room were found 3 empty vodka bottles. Her death might have also been due to the fact that it occured after weeks of abstinence as Winehouse was trying to cure her alcoholism.

Tony Bennett made an interesting comment after meeting Winehouse only a few weeks earlier when Winehouse had been a singer collaborator on Bennett’s album. Bennett said that Winehouse predicted her own death, she knew she was in trouble and was likely to lose her battle with alcoholism. This news adds a different layer to her death and you can really feel her struggle and it really makes me empathize with her. At first her death just seemed like another crazy rock star partying too hard and carelessly died. It didn’t bring out any emotions in me and I really couldn’t say I cared. But knowing how she was struggling and living with the knowledge that this was going to kill her, well its very sad and touching.
