Nodar Kumaritashvili, a Georgian luge slider competing at the Vancouver Olympics, died today after crashing during a training run and hitting a metal pole. He was 21
According to the Vancouver Sun, Kumaritashvili was traveling at speeds greater than 90 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

These photos of Nodar Kumaritashvili death taken after the luge crash accident have been posted online and have had mixed reviews from the public. Some say that the death photos and the luge video showing the crash should be pulled while the other side said it should be show for safety awareness. Under fire is the safety precautions used during the Olympics and if there should be a closer look at the regulations. Although an athlete, such as a luge slider Nodar Kumaritashvili understands the risk involved in the sport, of course is no excuse for not checking out any concerns about the track. When ones life is at stake NO precaution is to much.
