Jose Lima, a former MLB All-Star who played for the Astros and once won 21 games in a season, has died.  ESPN has reported that the cause of Jose Limas death was due to a heart attack. Jose Lima was just 37 years old when he died. It has been confirmed that Jose Lima is dead.

“Jose Lima was one of the most interesting and unforgettable characters to ever don a Houston uniform,” said Smith in an interview with FOX 26 Sports.

“He is one of the seven pitchers in team history to win 20 games. Just as important as his success on the field, was his flair and enthusiasm for the game and for life.”

Lima played for as many as five teams during his professional years. In 1999 he won 21 games with the Houston Astros. Jose Lima almost set a Major League record by allowing 48 home runs the following season. In 2005, he posted the worst ERA of all time for a pitcher with at least 30 starts.

Since 2008, Lima has pitched for professional baseball teams in South Korea, California and Canada. Here are a few photos of Jose Lima before his death
