I was looking back at a 2011 farewell to those we lost this year and somehow I missed Andy Rooney’s death during the year. While not a huge celebrity, he is someone that most people know and feel like they know as a person due to his weekly commentaries on 60 minutes, one of the longest running and most popular shows on TV.

I can’t say I agree with everything or much of what he said but watching 60 minutes will be weird and missing something without Andy’s little segment at the end of the show.

Andy Rooney was hospitalized on October 25, 2011, after developing complications from surgery, and he died on November 4, 2011, at the ripe old age of 92, which was only less than five weeks after his last 60 Minutes. I guess the old wisdom or myth where people die after their spouse dies or when something important in their life ends may have some merit.
