You probably wouldn’t know his name, but Im sure you’ve seen him, probably many many times in your life when you were at a very impresionable age. As one of Captain Kangaroos neighbors he made frequent appearances on the show and was a “celebrity” for the little ones.
He started out as a stage manager for the show, but convinced the producers to make him the shows first black character. We applaud you here for your efforts at bringing minorities to television sets at a formative time in America’s race relations. Who know how many children he influenced with his kind portrayal to adopt a more accepting attitude to their fellow Americans?
